Asia Bizz: Czech Republic-based auto manufacturer Skoda launched the Superb Ambition from its sedan segment for the Indian market on April 18, 2012. The company stated that the new car will be available in diesel as well as petrol variants.

The petrol variant of the Superb Ambition has been priced at Rs. 18 lakh, while the diesel variant has been priced at Rs. 22.5 lakh. Skoda stated that the pricing has made the new model more approachable to customers who wish to enter the Superb family.

Skoda in a statement said, “With Skoda superb ambition, we have tried to maintain an identical look to the naked eye without compromising on functionality”. The new Superb has a 1.8 TSI engine with six-speed manual transmission and 2.0 TDI CR six speed automatic DSG transmission, also found in Skoda Elegance.

Some of the attractive features of the Superb include – lounge step, NAPA leather package, retractable screens for rear windows and rear windscreen, wood decor, electronically-folding rear view mirrors and 12 way adjustable front seats. The safety features of the sedan include eight airbags, auto dimming interior, external mirror, corner turning function. But the car does lack some of the features seen in the Skoda Elegance like the sunroof and touchscreen for audio controls.
