Asia Bizz: Japan based motorcycle company Suzuki Motorcycles, is now gearing up to increase its brand awareness in the rural India. The company has roped in Bollywood actor Salman Khan as its brand ambassador.
The move has been taken significantly as Suzuki now prepares to launch its first mass motorcycle , 110 cc Hayate. The new Hayate is expected to be launched next month to compete with the other players in the market like Baja Auto and Hero MotoCorp.
Atul Gupta, the vice president of sales and marketing of Suzuki Motors India said, “We are a small player and a late entrant in India and this is the first attempt towards achieving our long-term ambition of being among the top three or four players.” In such a competitive market which has strong brand loyalties, it was essential for the company to rope in such a popular brand ambassador.
Till now Salman Khan has not been associated with any automobile brand. And among the current brand ambassadors he is clearly the oldest in the two wheeler industry. Meanwhile, even Honda might sign up with a brand ambassador for its first mass motorcycle Dream Yuga, which will soon be launched. Actress Kareena Kapoor has already signed in with Mahindra two wheelers.
