In the double murder scandal of the teenager Aarushi Talwar, mother Nupur Talwar surrendered in a Ghaziabad court on April 30. Talwar, who faced an arrest warrant in the double murder case of her daughter and domestic help Hemraj, was taken in to judicial custody.
Nupur also applied for bail. On April 27, the Supreme Court had directed Nupur to surrender before the CBI court in Ghaziabad. The mother of the deceased teenager, was accused of dodging several summons to appear before the trial court on April 30 by a special bench consisting of Justice AK Patnaik and justice KS Khekar.
Nupur was expected to surrender after 10 am, while her lawyers will be filing for a regular bail. In case the bail plea is rejected by the court then she could even be sent to judicial custody.
The warrant was issued for the mother of the teenager, despite the fact that she moved to the Supreme Court for reviewing the judgement. On the other hand the apex court did not stay the summons. Justice Patnaik said, “We will take this matter (the review petition) with ease. Meanwhile, you must surrender”. In the year 2008, Arushi Talwar, a student of class nine was found dead with her throat slit at her residence in Noida.
