The mother of the deceased teenager, Arushi Talwar was on April 30, 2012 denied bail by the court. After spending a night at the Dasna Jail, in Delhi, Talwar did not turn up at the hearing of her bail application.

Nupur and husband Rajesh Talwar, both dentists , are facing trial in the murder case of their daughter and their domestic help Hemraj. On Monday, Nupur surrendered at a court in Ghaziabad, after the Supreme Court, three days back directed her to appear before the CBI’s Special Judicial Magistrate’s court (SJM).

The bail application of Talwar on Monday was rejected as it is not empowered to grant bail in murder cases. The lawyers of the mother of the deceased teenager then moved to the sessions court, for an interim bail, which was also rejected after which Nupur was taken to Dasna Jail at 4:45 pm under heavy security.

In February 2011, the SJM took initiative in the closure report of CBI in the Arushi Murder case after which summons was issued to the Talwars to appear in the court. The summons had accused the parents of the 14 year old teenager, of murder of their daughter , destruction of evidence, conspiracy and a common intention to commit the crime.
