The Indian market is indeed a lucrative market for the auto giants of India as well as abroad. Two-wheeler making giant Suzuki Motorcycles India Private on May 10, 2012 said that it is eyeing an eight percent market share in the Motor cycle segment in the country by the year 2014.
Atul Gupta the vice president of sales and marketing told the reporters said, “Currently, we have 2 per cent market share in motor cycle segment and we are looking at raising it to 8 per cent by year 2014.” The Suzuki Motor Corporation has now entered in to the mass motor cycle segment with the launch of its 112 cc motor cycle ‘Hayate’, which has been priced around Rs. 39,000.
With the launch if the new Hayate, it is an opportunity to address the emerging markets in the small town clusters and also the semi urban and rural peripheries. Moreover, the company has also roped in Bollywood super star Salman Khan as the brand ambassador for its two wheelers.
Suzuki Motors now aims to sell 4.5 lakh two wheelers in the year 2012-13 against the sale of 2011-12. The majority portion of the total sales comes from the scooter segment.
