One again it is the Indian Premiere League (IPL), which is roped in to another controversy. An Australian player who is playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore has been arrested on molesting an Indian-American woman and also attacking her fiancé, which landed him in the hospital.
27 year old Luke Pomerbach on May 17, misbehaved with an American woman of Indian origin, at the Maurya Sheraton Hotel. The police said that he has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under the various sections of IPC which include 354 (outraging modesty of woman), 323 (hurt), 454 (lurking house trespass) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life other imprisonment).
The victim alleged that the player invited himself for a drink with the couple along with some common friends from Mumbai in their room. She then left the men alone and went to her bedroom, but Luke followed her and misbehaved with her.
When her fiancé interfered, he was beaten up by the cricketer. The victim’s fiancé has been admitted to the hospital and has also said that she has a pressure on her to withdraw the case but she will not do so. On the other hand IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said that IPL has nothing to do with the incident and it did not take place by in any party organized by it.
