All those who are waiting for the much awaited Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 (ICS) update for Sony’s Xperia S smartphone, might have to wait a bit longer. The news was confirmed at the official forum of the company.
The new ICS update for its first dual core powered Android smartphone is expected to roll out by the end of May or early June. The company earlier mentioned that the update will start rolling out by this month and a few other devices have already got the update.
But the latest devices are still running on the outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The NXT series from Sony will receive the new update much earlier than the former devices.
The update for the flagship smartphone, Xperia S will be available through OTA and also through the PC Companion Application. The new Xperia S is the first and the only Sony branded device which was announced at the CES 2012. The Xperia S has a 1.5 GHz processor, 12.1 mega pixel camera and 4.3 inch display. The rollout of the update will be as usual gradual and will not be available for all the phones overnight. Some smartphones might get it in early May while some might get by mid June.
