After receiving a threat letter from the banned Lashkar – e – Taiba, the security has been increased by India and Pakistan at the Wagah border. The threatening letter from Laskar – e – Taiba mentions that it would blow up the check post which has been recently opened to encourage bilateral trade.
The multi crore rupee integrated check post has been threatened to be blown up as Pakistan has increased trade with India even before resolving the issue of Kashmir dispute. Sources have revealed to a daily newspaper that they have received reports about the banned groups which are planning to attack some of the public personalities or key sites.
Concerned authorities have been informed about the threat so that adequate security measures could be taken. The Border Security forces of India along with Pakistani authorities have tightened the security at the integrated check post and have also deployed rescue teams, ambulances and ire brigade vehicles on alert to deal in an emergency.
A spokesperson from the Pakistan Rangers, Mahboob Hussain that is responsible for the security along the border said that the trade points at the Wagah border were under the army’s control and that the security at these locations were optimum.
