A high profile rave party was busted by the Mumbai Police on May 20, 2012 at a hotel in Juhu area in Mumbai. Reports say that 96 party goers were arrested which also included to Indian Premiere League (IPL) players.

The police has also arrested the party organiser Vishesh Vijay Handa, who has been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS)Act. The IPL players who were detained and questioned, have been identified as Rahul Sharma of India and Wayne Parnell of South Africa.

Rahul in his defence said that he was at the Oak Woods Hotel in Juhu at that time but for a different party. Even the mother of the player defended him saying that he has not done anything wrong and that he had gone to attend a birthday party.

The attendees of the party who were detained including the IPL players have undergone medical tests to find out if they consumed any banned substances. The results of the medical tests are awaited. On the basis of the medical tests, the police will charge the detained. The cricketers have been released on bond and no arrests have been made so far. Media reports say that the invitations to the party were sent out through the social networking site, Facebook.
