In a surprising twist in the popular Aarushi murder case, the dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar have been charged by a special CBI court on May 25, 2012. The couple has been charged for conspiracy, destruction of evidence and murders of daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.
The CBI alleged that Rajesh filed a misleading FIR on May 16, 2008 and put the blame of his daughter’s murder on Hemraj. But then Hemraj’s body was found on the terrace of Talwar’s apartment in Noida.
The court in the case observed that the evidence put up by the prosecution needed to be minutely examined at this stage. It was added that the charges would be formally charged on Friday after which the trial date would be fixed.
On the other hand, the counsel for the Talwars said that their priority is to get a bail for Nupur, who is at present at the Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad since April 30, while Rajesh is out on bail. The counsel on May 23, argued that Aarushi and Hemraj were murdered by an outsider who managed to enter the residence as he knew the help. In February 2011, the Talwars were summoned as the accused under sections 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
