YSR Congress party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on May 27, 2012 was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Jagan has been arrested in a disproportionate assets case.
The party leader was arrested after the CBI questioned him for the third consecutive day. YRS party leader informed the reporters outside the Dilkusha Guest House, the CBI Camp Office, that Jagan has been arrested.
After the arrest, the police were on high alert as the supporters are anticipating violent protests. The security at the Guest House, Jagan’s residence and the YSR party office in Hyderabad has been increased.
Moreover, security has also been tightened in the other districts and the policemen were alert on the streets as many of the activists of YSR party were also arrested at some places. As a precautionary measure, the state owned road transport corporation stopped plying its buses in some of the districts. However, YSR party leader Prabhakar Rao has appealed the activists to remain peaceful. When Jagan did not come out of the Guest House even after 7 pm on Sunday it was speculated that he has been taken in to custody. On Friday and Saturday, Jagan was for about eight hours and remained in the guests house, adding tension for the party workers.
