In some good news for all those who were waiting to own the new Mahindra and Mahindra’s XUV 500, the company on May 28 said that it will be reopening bookings for its model. The bookings will be opening next month and the company has also increased the output of the vehicle at 4,000 units per month.

M&M also assured that the XUV 500 will also be made available across the country including the existing 19 cities where it was earlier launched. Pravin Shah, the Chief Executive of Automotive Division, M&M said, “Now that we have ramped-up our production capacity significantly, we are confident that we will be able to take care of the growing all-India demand for the XUV500”.

The company till now has been producing 3,000 units of the model through its Chakan plant and now it plans to increase the capacity to 5,000 units a month. The company added that the production capacity has been increased to 4,000 vehicles per month to deal with the growing demand.

The bookings will be reopening from June 8, 2012. The vehicle was launched on September 29 last year and the company had to temporarily suspend new bookings in October as the four months production of more than 8,000 units was sold out in just ten days.
