Howrah – Dehradun, Doon Express on May 31, derailed near Koridia village in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Railway authorities have informed that four people have died and ten have been injured and shifted to the hospital.

On the other hand PTI has quoted the police saying that five people have died while 50 people have been injured in the accident. Officials of the railway informed that 10 to 17 coaches from the engine have derailed.

While some of the early reports revealed that five of the non-AC coaches were completely off the rails and were lying on their sides. Three more coaches were derailed but had not turned over.

The accident took place at 1:13 pm but the actual cause of the incident is still not known. The train derailed 12 minutes after it left Jaunpur station. Rescue teams have rushed to the spot from Varanasi and Lucknow. The rescue teams include, medical teams and a rescue train with equipment. Railway Minister Mukul Roy will be visiting the accident site today. This is the second rail accident in ten days. Last week the Hampi Express banged in to a stationary good train and killed 25 people in the mishap.
