Samsung has already launched the third generation of its popular Galaxy S series. But the Galaxy S II is still a popular device among the customers. It has once again made its presence felt with an upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

The S II will get its Android 4.0 upgrade on June 11, 2012. A Tweet on the network operator’s official Twitter page announced that the Android 4.0 will be rolled out to the older Galaxy S handset on June 11.

Despite the launch of the S III in the market, the S II has also garnered enough attention. The Galaxy S II ran on Gingerbread platform during the launch and is at present powered by the same operating system.

Now that the handset will soon get the ICS update, the users can now look forward for a host of new interface tweaks along with new features like Face Unlock, Android Beam and others. Some of the major specifications of the Galaxy S II include 4.3 inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display, 8 mega pixel camera with 2 mega pixel front facing camera. The handset is available in two choices of 16 GB and 32 GB. The storage can be expandable through micro SD slots.
