Superbike manufacturing giant S&T Motors launches its Hyosung GT 250R at Rs. 2.75 lakh for the Indian market on June 11, 2012. The South Korean company has entered in to partnership with Pune based DS Kulkarni Group to distribute its Hyosung bikes in the country.

The company with the help of the partnership has high hopes in terms of sales in India compared to its global sales of 50,000 two-wheelers in the next 3 to 5 years. At present S&K Motors is busy finalising its India strategy with its partner DSK Group.

To begin with the companies aim to bring two more bikes GV 250 and GV 650 later in the year and will be assembled locally. The company also plans to aggressively localise its overall portfolio of 5 to 6 bikes with more than 90% local content and bring the price down to almost half.

Moreover, within 18 months the DSK Group is also planning to set up a plant and bring in the mass market 125 cc and 150 cc motorcycles in India. Justin Lee, from the global marketing team S&T Motors said, The potential to grow in India is very big. We are currently working on a product portfolio for the future. With strong commitment shown by our partner DSK Group, we see India turning out to be a huge base with potential volumes of 2,00,000 to 3,00,000 units annually.” The South Korean giant has ventured for the third time in the Indian market.
