Spiritual guru Swami Nithyananda, known for his controversial image will be produced before the Ramanagaram district court, which will be hearing his bail application on June 14, 2012. The bail plea hearing comes a day after he was remanded to one day judicial custody after being charged for assault.
Nithyananda on June 13, surrendered before the Ramanagaram district court after he was untraceable for about 48 hours. The spiritual guru moved to the Bangalore High Court for anticipatory bail on June 12, 2012. In response to the anticipatory bail, the court on June 14 sent a notice to the state government to file objections on his bail.
The hearing on the case has been scheduled for June 15, 2012. Nithyananda was interrupted by a mob of about 100 people outside the court, as soon as the news of his surrender broke out. The spiritual guru is also facing charges of sexual abuse and rape alleged by some of his former devotees last year.
On Monday, Chief minister DV Sadananda said that action would be taken against Nithyananda , in wake of the accusations by a US based woman who claimed that she was sexually abused for five years by him. Some of the disciples of the godman also tried to hold two news conferences to clear the air on the matter, but at the end Nithyananda’s men started assaulting the newsmen.
