The government of India launched a website known as the ‘LPG transparency portal’ on June 22, 2012 which will provide details of bookings and delivery of the LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas). The website has been launched so as to ensure transparency in the consumption, booking and delivery of LPG cylinders.

The measure also has been taken to avoid the consumption from the black market. The website will be empowering nearly 14 crore consumers across the country. It will carry the details of the delivery date, usage patterns, subsidies and details about the distributors and the other details affecting the consumers.

The LPG transparency portal can be accessed through the official website of the Ministry of Petroleum d Natural Gas www.petroleum.nic.in.  The new portal will also be hosted on the websites of oil marketing companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited an Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited.

The information on the system can be acquired with the help of the consumer’s number and name or by the distributor’s name. Jaipal Reddy, the minister of Petroleum and Gas said that the consumers can know their individual LPG usage patterns, bookings status, refill history and more just by a single click.
