The recent wave of floods has claimed the lives of 540 animals, which include 13 rhinos from the world famous Kaziranga National Park in Assam. This is perhaps the worst ever to hit the Park in recent history.

The hog dear are the worst to be hit by the flood waters as 465 of them have succumbed to the flood waters. The flood water has covered nearly 80 percent of the Park’s area. The latest official update has mentioned that the other casualties include, 28 wild boars, 10 swamp deer, five porcupine, 16 sambars and two each of python and wild buffalo and hog badgers.
