After a long wait, people of Delhi got some relief as it rained on July 6, 2012. It rained so heavily that the National Capital Region that the traffic in the city came to a halt. But the block traffic was much better than bearing the scorching heat.

The people in the city came out on the streets and danced in the rain and splashed in the puddles. Officials from the weather department said that it was a pre-monsoon shower and that the rains were still 24 hours away.

But still the showers of the rain was pleasurable and the monsoon was visible all around. The temperature in the city came down to a cool 24 degrees C and the usage of the air-conditioners also stopped. No one was also bothered about the power or the water crisis.

After a long time the city people also looked forward to a weekend family outing on the popular lawns of India Gate. S C Bhan, the director at India Meteorological Department said, “ The actual monsoon rainfall is expected to reach Delhi in another 24 hours. The announcement will be made on July 7, 2012 after observing the rainfall pattern of the day. At any rate it looks like the rainfall will last for the next three days”. The pre-monsoon showers usually expected three to four days before the actual monsoon.
