After the opening of the popular Tokyo Skytree, the Tobu Tower Skytree Co. on July 11, 2012 started selling the same day tickets for the tower. The tower was opened for the public on May 22, 2012 and since then it only entertained admission for the tickets purchased in advance.
The step was taken so as to avoid congestion. A spokesperson from the company said that 420 people were lined up as soon as the tickets went on sale on Wednesday at 8 am. The tickets cost 2,500 yen to go up to the 350 meter high observation deck, while it costs another 1,000 yen for the 450 meter observation deck.
