The Indian cricket team will be locking horns with the Sri Lankans in a five-match One Day international series as well as one-off Twenty20 international while the Indian tour at the island national later this month. The world champions will be returning to the field after a break of almost two months.

The Indians will be aiming to win so as to look forward to deal with England, Australia and New Zealand at the home lands. The ICC Word Twenty20 is scheduled in the month of September before the test series.

This will also be crucial for the important team members to get used to the conditions in Sri Lanka as it would help them prepare better. Recently, opening batsman Virender Sehwag and pacer Zaheer Khan returned to the 15 member Indian cricket team after they recovered from injuries.

While Sachin Tendulkar voluntarily opted out of the limited overs tour starting from July 21, 2012. Sehwag was dealing with a shoulder injury while Zaheer was dealing with niggles. Here is the schedule for the India tour of Sri Lanka 2012.
