As the Indian festival of Raksha Bandhan approaches, India Post on July 11, 2012 said that it was offering special Rakhi envelopes across its post offices in Delhi on the occasion. The festival will be celebrated on August 2, 2012.
The envelopes have been priced at Rs. 7 and they have been made water proof so that no damage is caused to them in this rainy season. The ministry of communications and IT in a statement said, “For the benefit and convenience of its customers India Post has ventured to serve better by value addition to its core services”.
The statement added, “The special features of these Rakhi envelopes include excellent strength, tear resistance, light weight and elegant printability. These are available in size 11 cms x 22 cms and in different colours”. The envelopes also feature a peal and seal mechanism to protect the Rakhi from damage.
On the left hand top front side of the envelop, the word ‘Rakhi’ has been written with the Indian Post logo. The festival of Rakhi is celebrated across the country by the brothers and sisters. As per the ritual, the sister ties a ‘Rakhi’ (a decorative thread) on the wrist of her brother, while the brother in consideration promises to protect her.
