Japanese electronics manufacturer, Panasonic Corp on July 17, 2012 said that it has completed a new consumer lithium ion battery built within the premises of its existing factory in Suzhou, China. The new facility is now operative and enabled integrated production from polar plates to cells and battery packs within the Suzhou site and further strengthens the competitiveness of the company in the global market.
The Lithium ion batteries are expected to find wider applications in the new fields and also in storage for solar and other renewable energy sources. It can also be used as a power sources for environmentally friendly vehicles. Moreover there has been a growing demand for the further cost reductions.
