Samsung Electronics which is now considered as the world’s top most smartphone maker, has sold more than ten million units of its popular and newest Galaxy S III model since its launch about two months back. Earlier this month the company said that it expected a record operating profit of 6.7 trillion won in the second quarter.

The South Korean company is currently competing with Apple’s iPhone and iPad for supremacy in the lucrative smartphone and tablet market. The company has also experienced heavy demand for the Galaxy S III which was introduced in Europe in the month of May.

J.K Shin the head of Samsung’s mobile communications division said, “It appears that it (accumulated sales) has exceeded 10 million units”. Shin last month also said that it expected a global sales of the new phone which is available in more than 140 countries and would surpass 10 million by the end of July including a sales of about a million units in at the domestic market.

The best part about the handset is that it offers face recognition technology and improved voice activated controls as well as more powerful processor. The company has shipped 44.5 million smartphones in the first quarter exceeding the 35.1 million of US.
