The 13th president of India Pranab Mukherjee is now all set to take oath on July 25, 2012 and visited Rajghat to pay homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Mukherjee will be taking his oath later today.
After visiting Rajghat, Mukherjee will also pay tributes to the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Shakti and Rajiv Gandhi at Veer Bhumi. The new president also visited Shanti Van and Vijay Ghat before heading towards Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The oath taking ceremony will be held at the Central Hall of the Parliament. Chief justice of India, SH Kapadia will be administering the oath to Mukherjee at 11:30 am. the other VIPs who will also be present at the occasion include, the Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Governors, Union Ministers, Chief Minister and many dignitaries.
The special ceremony will begin on the arrival of the outgoing president Pratibha Patil as well as Mukherjee in a ceremonial procession from Rashtrapati Bhavan to the Parliament building. Both will be received by Kapadia, Ansari and Kumar and will be escorted to the Central Hall. A 21 gun salute will also be given to Mukherjee, after he takes over and will also address the gathering and leave for Rashtrapati Bhavan with Patil.
