Suresh Kalmadi, who was sacked from the Common Wealth Games Organising Committee was on July 25, 2012 restrained by the Delhi High Court from attending the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games event. The Delhi High Court cited that Kalmadi’s participation can cause embarrassment to the nation.
A bench consisting Acting Chief Judge A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw has also barred Kalmadi to leave the country till July 27, 2012. order from the bench also said that the decision has been taken from the national point of view. On the other hand the HC has also left it to the International Association of Athletes Federation to decide on his plea to attend the meeting after reading the court’s order.
