US based electronic manufacturer, Swipe Telecom has launched its new range of tablets for the Indian market. The company has also launched the country’s first 3D tablet. The tablets have been priced between Rs. 5,999 to Rs. 6,999.

The tablet which has the phone facility has been priced at Rs. 8,999. Swipe has claimed that their tablets are the fastest and the lightest in its category. Shripal Gandhi the Swipe Telecom founder and Chief executive said that the domestic tablet market was 0.95 million units or Rs. 2,200 crores in value last year.

But it is expected to touch 2.2 million units this year. The US is considered as the largest tablet market as it sold 20.9 million units in the year 2011 and is projected to sell more than twice as much at 42.5 million this year.

Even Europe is expected to witness a sale of 28.7 million tablets this year. Aman Gupta, the Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer said that the company backed by Mantra Ventures with commitment of $10 million. Gupta added that the company is also in discussion with the other PEs for an additional $20 million. Mantra Ventures has a port .
