India Against Corruption Activist Anna Hazare who is fasting for the strong Lokpal Bill, said that he would end his fast if his supporters resort to violence. Hazare apologised the reporters at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and said that the media and the activists must work together to fight against corruption.

Arvind Kejriwal, from Anna team also apologised for the scuffle which broke between Gandhian supporters and media people at Jantar Mantar on July 30, 2012. Kejriwal even urged his supporters to be nice to the media.

At the fast venue Arvind said, “Please be nice to these media people. Don’t misbehave with them. I apologise for what happened”. The apology came after the attack was criticised by the Broadcast Editors Association (BEA) and demanded immediate apology.

The incident took place at 10 last night when the supporters of Anna Hazare attacked the media people covering their hunger strike. The activists hurled abuses and raised anti-media slogans after Shanti Bhushan alleged that the media was showing the protests in a negative way. The BAE believed that this was an interference in the functioning of the media and that the media is discharging its legitimate duty of covering the agitation in a fair manner.
