Electronics manufacturer, Panasonic on July 30, 2012 said that it has developed artificial photosynthesis system which converts carbon dioxide to organic material by illuminating with sunlight at a world’s top efficiency of 0.2%. The efficiency is in comparison with the al plants used for biomass energy.

The key in to the system is the application of nitride semiconductor which makes the system simple as well as efficient. The development will be the foundation for the realization of a system for capturing the wasted carbon di oxide from incinerators, power plants as well as industrial activities. Co2 is one of the substances which are responsible for the greenhouse effect and efforts are being made to reduce the emission of CO2 worldwide.
