Pantel Technologies has tied up with state owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to launch an upgraded version of 3G tablet called the Penta T-Pad WS802C. Earlier the tablet was launched with Android Honeycomb in the month of March this year.
The tablet is now sold while it is co-branded with BSNL. It is offering a 3G data plan of 2 GB with 60 days validity along with Penta T-Pad. The upgraded BSNL T-Pad is based on Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
The features of the tablet include 8 inch capacitive touch screen and is powered by 1.2 GHz processor and 512 MB DDRII RAM. The device also supports 1080 P HD videos through HDMI.
The tablet also comes with built in GPS 3G SIM Slot and Wi Fi option. The new Penta T-Pad is priced at Rs. 14,699 and is also closely priced at Rs. 19,000 of the Samsung Tab 2 which offers much better performance and built quality and also has a smaller 7 inch screen. The Indian market is now filled with several tablets from local as well as international brands, but still the market is dominated by the leader Apple with its iPad which sells like hot cakes despite its high price tag.
