In another achievement for India, Army shooter Vijay Kumar on August 3, 2012 grabbed the silver medal in men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event at the Olympic Games in London. Kuamr managed to challenge the world champion Alexei Klimov of Russia, Chinese duo Ding Feng and Zhang Jian and German Christian Reitz in the 40 shot final to finish as a runner up.
Kumar is a 26 year old army subedar from the state of Himachal Pradesh and found target 30 times put of 40 attempts in the series comprising of eight rounds of five shots each. This is the second medal for India after Gagan Narang claimed the bronze medal in 10m Air Rifle event.
