The consumer forum in Delhi told an authorised dealer of German car manufacturer Volkswagen Motors as compensation to one of its customers. A compensation of Rs. 10,000 has been asked to pay by the dealer for selling the customer a used ‘Polo diesel car.
Bhasin Motors India Pvt Ltd was held guilty of rendering deficient service to the complainant Anil Shankar, who was offered a used car instead of a brand new one after accepting his money. The New Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has asked the dealer to pay the compensation to Shankar.
C K Chaturvedi, who presides over the bench said, “We hold opposite party-2 (Bhasin Motors India Pvt Ltd) guilty of deficiency in offering an already used car in place of new, after accepting the money. He (Shankar) has already cancelled the booking. We award compensation of Rs 10,000 to complainant (Shankar)”. Shankar in the complaint against the authorised dealer said that he had paid the full price of the car while booking it, but when he went to take the delivery of his vehicle from the showroom he noticed that it was already driven for 657 kms.
The dealer did not give any explanation for the usage of the car and even before the forum the dealer could not give any reason on how a used car was offered to Shankar.
