HRD minister Kapil Sibal has assured that the low cost tablet Aakash will soon be launched. The Aakash has been termed as the cheapest computer in the world for students and the teaching community.

The improved version of the device is fitted with a faster processor and also has enhanced battery along with other features. Sibal said, “It (the idea of low cost computer) was rejected throughout the world and it was said that India would not be able to make it. The minister was addressing the first convocation of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science. Sibal has earlier announced that 100,000 upgraded Aakash 2 tablets will be given to the engineering colleges.
