After the March 11, disaster in Japan, the evacuees have returned to the Tohoku Prefectures of Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima on Monday for the Obon holiday. The evacuees have returned so as to offer prayers to the ones who died in last year’s disaster.

Last year many people did not return to their homes as the gravestones were washed away by the tsunami. Many of the evacuees were living in temporary shelters a long way from their homes. But the local officials said that the grave stones have been replaced while the funeral companies said that they had received orders for the makeshift Buddhist alters.
