Indian budget airlines, SpiceJet on August 14, 2012 announced that it will provide free air tickets for life for all the Indians medal winners, at the 2012 London Olympic Games. Overall India has secured six medals from the 2012 Games.
The airlines issued a statement which said, “SpiceJet Ltd is proud to be associated with these winners who brought great moments of achievements for India at this gathering of sportspersons from across the globe”. The statement added, “It is an effort of SpiceJet to be part of sports that has impacts on national mood, affects wellness and contributes to the prestige and honour of the nation”.
Neil Mills, the SpiceJet Ltd Chief Executive congratulated the Olympic medal winners and said, “It is a matter of great honour for us to be associated with the sportspersons who brought recognition for India at London Olympics 2012.” Mills added that the nation is proud of their unprecedented performance.
The recipients of the special honour are Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Vijay Kumar, MC Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Gagan Narang. Mills also said that the hard works of the medal winners prives their hard work and commitment to their respective fields. The 2012 Games on August 12, 2012 concluded in London.
