South Korean giant Samsung Electronics has unveiled its new tablet in the US. The company has launched its Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet which was launched on August 16, 2012 in US, Britain and South Korea.

The tablet has been launched just weeks before the company is expected to launch the revamped version of the original 5.3 inch Note smartphone. The latest launch come as the company is attempting to compete for the market share against the Apple Inc.

The device has been priced at Rs. $499 for 16 gigabyte version and Wi Fi only. Samsung has hopes that their new phone cum tablet device will help it to lure the customers and wil also take off the competition from the popular iPad.

Park Young an analyst from Woori Investment and Securities in Seoul said, “When you look at the price and overall consumer awareness about Samsung tablets, it’s not likely to be a big success”. In terms of the screen size, the Samsung device has a larger screen than the 9.7 inch iPad. The device runs on Android and is powered by a 1.4 quad core processor with 5 mega pixel camera, 1.9 megapixel front camera. The unique feature of its camera is that it detects the eye moment of the user to prevent the device to go in to the standby mode.
