In the controversial Geetika Kanda suicide case, the former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda will be produced in Rohini Court on August 18, 2012 in Delhi. The former Haryana Minister had surrendered before the police on August 18 morning and has been arrested in connection with the suicide case.

After 13 days of the suicide of Geetika Sharma, Kanda was arrested. Sharma was a former employee of Kanda and had accused him of abetting her to suicide. For the past ten days Kanda was absconding, after the police had served him with a notice to appear before them to join the investigations.

Kanda surrendered to the Bharat Nagar Police station at 4 am. Before entering the police station, Kanda told the reporters that he was joining the police for the investigations as directed by the Delhi police.

P Karunakaran, the Deputy Commissioner of Police North West said, “Kanda has surrendered and we have arrested him”. Aruna Chaddha a senior functionary with now defunct MDLR airlines has already been arrested and is currently in judicial custody in connection with the case. Geetika had left a suicide note which mentioned that Kanda and Chaddha were harassing her to rejoin the former minister’s firm after she left the job. An anticipatory bail plea has been dismissed by the Delhi High Court earlier on August 17, 2012.
