Japanese auto giant Toyota Motors has launched its completely redesigned Auris compact hatchback on August 20, 2012. The new hatchback has been launched for the Japanese as well as the European market.

The new Auris has been completely redesigned and integrates the underlying appeal of automobiles which is the styling and performance. The new design of the hatchback takes them to a new dimension based on the vehicle’s aim of establishing new standard for sports hatchback.

In terms of the improvements, the new Auris has a 55 mm height reduction for a lower centre of gravity, improved driving performance which has been achieved by extensive drive tests conducted in Europe. The improvement also includes the enhanced RS sports upgrade.

The base model of the Auris has been powered by a 1.3 litre petrol engine with a larger 1.6 litre petrol engine option. While the diesel version will have a 1.4 litre unit. The wheel base remains the same and structure includes a greater use of the high tensile steel in the upper part of the structure. This is a major contribution to the weight loss and has increased the torsional stiffness by 10 percent. The steering and suspension system has been tuned to give a more comfortable and responsive drive.
