The rice farmers in the Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture have begun the testing on the main rice yield as harvest time approaches. At present the radiation tests are being carried out on the early yields which are already being harvested in the prefecture.

Last year the tests were not carried out routinely due to which there were several reports which said that the radioactive goods reached the super market shelves. This year the formers have informed that each of the bag of harvested rise is being tested for radioactivity before they leave the farms. The main harvest is expected to take place in late September. The risk of radioactivity in food increased after the radiation leak from the crippled Fukushima plant.
