Japanese auto giant Honda is all set to roll out the CNG variant of its City model in India. With the launch of the CNG variant the company is all set to take on the rivals during the festive season.

The other companies have also marched forward as Honda has till now not offered diesel variants. The Indian market in recent times went through a massive dieselization while Honda feels that a CNG variant of the car will give the market a competitive product to give a tough fight to the diesel rivals like Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento.

Honda has been working on the CNG variant for quite some time and will also make a few changes against a conventional petrol variant. People familiar with the matter said that the suspension of the car has been strengthened as the CNG tank will be housed in the boot of the car.

Some of the officials from Honda on the condition of anonymity said that the vehicle will be fitted with the CNG kit and the cylinder at the dealer end and not at the factory. While the factory will produce the special CNG variant of the City. The Honda City CNG variant will be priced from Rs. 7.25 lakhs ex showroom price.
