After the partial restoration of work at the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki, the company is expecting to restore its original production capacity within a fortnight or a month. Randeep Singh the Haryana Industries Minister on August 24, 2012 said that the question of relocating its unit outside Haryana does not arise at all.

The minister clarified that the rumours in this regard are baseless. Singh added that Maruti Suzuki would invest Rs. 1,700 crore for setting up C-plant in its Manesar unit as the company is preparing to set up Asia’s biggest R&D and track testing facility which would involve an investment of Rs. 3,500 crores.

The new research and development unit and track testing would be at the Industrial Model Township at Rohtak which would be spread over 700 acres of land. Singh said, “At present, plant-A and plant-B are back in production and on August 22, 186 cars were produced. Maruti (Suzuki) is expected to restore its original production capacity within next fortnight or month”.

The minister has also claimed that the lockut at Manesar was lifted due to the sincere efforts by the Haryana government and said that the management of Maruti Suzuki India expressed full confidence in the government’s response to the violence incident at the facility in July.
