After a long wait, national carrier Air India will be receiving its first 787 Dreamliner on September 8, 2012. The aircraft will be used by the airline for its long haul routes. The delivery of the aircraft will be followed by two more within the next few weeks.

The Delay Compensation Agreement was cleared by the Union Cabinet in the month of August and is being fine tuned by the Union Law Ministry. In the upcoming weeks the Dreamliner would be operated in the domestic sectors so that the pilots and the crew get accustomed to its landings and take offs. Air India was the second carrier to place order for this aircraft.
