Auto giant Honda is planning to launch its Brio compact hatch range for the Indian market. The company will be launching the automatic version next month. This will be the third car from the small car segment after Maruti Suzuki’s A Star and Hyundai i10 to offer such transmission options.

Jnaneshwar Sen the Senior Vice President of sales and marketing Honda Siel Cars India said, that the need for such variants was felt from the customers who wanted a car which is easy to drive in the crowded cities. But the launch of Honda Brio does not mean that it would help the company take a significant jump in the sales for the company.

The automatic variants in the country account for a low single digit percentage share of the total cars sold in the country. Sen also denied the reports that the Accord Brand will be launched in the country.

But the senior vice president said that the new Civic Sedan launch may be delayed for the home market. Last year the Civic was launched in the US and Europe. Sen said that they are not pulling out the Civic at present but considering the fact that the C segment is not growing it makes no sense to invest in the local manufacturing of a new model.
