Despite heavy demand, many of the diesel variants of the vehicles in India are now available at discounts. The reason behind it is the slowing down of sales which has forced the distributors to offer discounts on Tata Indica, Fiat Punto, Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Punto, Ford Figo, Maruti SX4 and Ritz.
Moreover, in some of the models the discounts are as high as Rs. 50,000 a car on select models. Michael Boneham, the Ford Motor India president and marketing director said that they are offering discounts on the diesel models to be in line with the market competition. Boneham added that the slowing of the demand as affected the sales of the cars and the rebates are expected to keep the sales ticking.
