On September 11, 2012 the government of Rajasthan has removed as many as 199 mobile towers, which were installed on the top of the school buildings in the state. The removal of the mobile towers affected the mobile services in about 40 towns.

The mobile towers were shut in order to comply with a court order in this regard. The towers which were installed on the school buildings had stopped radiating signals after 9 pm on September 10, 2012. The removal of the towers had affected the services of at least 34 lakh mobile customers including 25 lakh in Jaipur. According to the order dated August 22, 2012 passed by the Rajasthan High Court, the mobile operators were required to remove all the mobile towers and antennas installed on Government and private schools.
