The commercial operations with the Boeing 787 which is also known as the Dreamliner will begin on September 19, 2012 by Air India. In the beginning the new aircrafts will be deployed on the domestic routes so that the pilots gets used to the aircraft operations.
Rohit Nandan on the sidelines of the event to receive the carrier’s first Dreamliner said that the new planes will be operating between Delhi-Chennai-Bangalore. The 787 is the first of the 27 which was ordered from Boeing Co from the US. Nandan also said that the Dreamliners will be like a game changer for Air India as it gives 15% fuel saving compared with Boeing’s 767’s and Airbus A330s.
