South Korean electronics giant LG has unveiled its high end smartphone Optimus G on September 18, 2012. The new smartphone has been unveiled as the company is struggling to win the market share against the giants like Apple and Samsung during the crucial holiday quarter.

The handset business of LG has been moving in a slow pace but it largely failed to impress the consumers in front of the giants like Apple and Samsung. But the company new hopes that its new Optimus G will help it to compete against Google’s Motorola, Taiwan’s HTC and China’s ZTE and Huawei.

The Optimus G has been built on the Google’s Android platform and will go on sale next week in South Korea for 1 million won ($900. The handset will later go on sale in Japan and the United States. The device has a 13 megapixel camera and the user can instruct the phone to take pictures.

The Optimus G also has a 4.7 inch screen with a sharper picture quality than both the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S III. The device has been powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon processor. The Optimus G will work on super fast mobile networks and will be able to carry out several functions at once.
