Film maker Anurag Basu has managed to put a smile on the faces of the audience, critics and even the box office with the movie ‘Barfi’. The flick has already collected Rs. 34. crores in its opening weekend.

The romantic comedy flick has Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor who plays the role of a deaf and dumb boy and debutant Ileana D’Cruz. The movie was made with a budget of Rs. 30 crores and talks about love beyond disability.

On the opening day itself the movie managed to garner Rs. 9.20 crores and Rs. 11.50 crores on the second day and Rs. 13.5 crores on Sunday. Film critic Taran Adarsh Tweeted, “‘Barfi’ has done remarkable business. The film gathered steam with each passing day, rising to the maximum on Saturday and Sunday. It was released in less than 700 cinema halls in India, a tiny release as compared to the biggies. Occupancy at multiplexes was fantastic”.

Even in the overseas market the movie crossed the Rs. 2 million mark over the weekend and has made it Ranbir’s highest grosser overseas ahead of ‘Rajneeti’ and ‘Rockstar’. Even Siddharth Roy Kapoor said that the response to ‘Barfi’ has been c0mpletely overwhelming. Even the film fraternity has widely appreciated the movie.
