Indian telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has joined hands with tablet maker WishTel to launch another android based tablet for the Indian market. According to our sources, the tablet will not a SIM card slot and will be bound to the BSNL network only, however this tablet will feature video calling.
The device has been named the ‘IRA Icon’, featuring a 7 inch tablet device and running on Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich, with a 1.2 Ghz single core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The other features of the tablet include a 2 megapixel camera and a front facing VGA camera for video calling.
The Icon also has a mini USB port, micro SD card slot, mini HDMI port and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The device features in built 4 GB storage along with basic connectivity options like Bluetooth and Wi Fi.
The tablet has a 4,000 mAh battery which the company claims will last between 4 to 5 hours with stand by usage on full charge. The customers on purchase of the device will also get 2 GB of free 3G data for the first two months after the purchase date. The tablet has been priced at Rs.10,500 for the Indian market according to our sources.
