Automobile industry is buzzing with a rumor that the engineers at Tata Motors are planning a Rs 300,000-car, Dolphin which is likely to be launched in the next 2 years.
The car is expected to be powered by a 1 litre engine and Tata would probably be positioning this car between the Nano and Indica Vista . The compact segment is one place where Tata Motors had not made its presence felt , the compact segment adds up to nearly 45 per cent of the total small car market in India.
TATA has one of the best distribution systems, so rural demand is surely going to drive growth in the segment. The Indian car market has not been penetrated to the maximum yet and there seems to be a big chance of growth in the compact sector – which is leading to a strong demand of cars.
The all new small compact car may be Tata Motors’ farewell gift to Ratan Tata.
